Detach

Deep red
Juxtaposed against a soft blue

A harsh reality swimming
In a sea of blissful ignorance

Cool, calm waves of forced detachment
Wash over me

A tantalizing carnelian hook
Lingers beneath steady ripples
And engages devastation

Through a tormenting trigger
Forbidden thoughts are frantically seized
And wrenched to the surface

My exposed body fiercely fights
To tread through red rushing water
In a moment of petrifying anguish

I strain to see the sun
Through hazy humid air
As the light sinks to the horizon

Feeling weightless as I silently stare
At the repressed scene playing on repeat
The traumatizing scene playing on repeat

As it begins to pull me apart

The persistent blue drags me back down
Where the red is diluted
And forgotten yet again
