Paved

Cool, gray, paved cement
Dominates once vegetated land
And mirrors the molded humans
That trudge along its path

Neatly cut symmetrical squares
Form fixed monotonous lines
And discourage deviation
From the predefined path

Flecks of distant color
Strive to be distinguished
Yet the unyielding gray
Masks the juxtaposition

Categorized and depersonalized
With variance hidden and paved
Where uneven slabs are reprehended
And nothing is allowed to change
